Politcal Campaign

Is John McCain's political campaign advertising strategies becoming racially divisive?

  1. I believe so, with the remarks of the people at the Lakeville rally, saying that Obama is an Arab, and a terrorist because his middle name is Huessien. John McCain finally interupted and told the people that Obama is a "decent man".

  2. I don't think it is becomeing racial just because some overly excited people started shouting things at a rally. It was not McCain who said those things and he told the ones who were saying them to stop and that Obama was a decent man. He did not have to tell them to stop, but he did because McCain is a decent man as well. I personally don't see how anyone could vote for someone who is ok with murdering innocent unborn children, or that is ok with gay marriage, which do you ever stop to think about aids? Gee ...........I wonder why so many gays get aids? Could it be because God did not intend it to be that way? Of course not that is just to obvious and "open minded enough". But it is the truth. I would be very dissappointed to be a part of a country that was ok with killing babies. You should be to.

  3. I think that the people supporting McCain have become so desperate that they can no longer try to rely on McCain's credentials and views on the issues, so they have resorted to prejudicial views in order to justify their support of a campaign that can only be compared to a sinking ship.

  4. I agree with ben Mccain and his supporters are desperate as can be seen in the last debate where mccain was on the offensive constantly accusing obama of things yet obama's cooler head will prevail. However I don't believre that he has officailly played the race card for as kamille said he told the people that obama is a decent man.

  5. So, now Obama is a baby killer? Like he is physically doing it? Or is he just associated with people doing it? Ian, once again you have managed to astonish me with your radical and sadistic ideas. And to be perfectly honest I know some people with AIDS and none of them are gay and none of them have ever taken part in risky behavior. When people say be "open minded" it means step away from your bible, and thourghly think/examine where you stand on an issue. It means to search your personal feelings and figure out if something is really as bad as you think it is. Also, if you want to have a discussion about gays, why you voted for bush, baby killers, or anything else start its own blog don't get off the topic of what each post is. Thanks!

  6. I do think that at least the supporters of McCain's are getting desperate and going down the race road. But like others posted, he didn't say it himself. Thank you Becky for reminding us to stick with the blog, or create your own. Ian- whatever!

  7. I don’t think that McCain’s campaign is becoming more diverse, and I don’t think that he really had a choice when he called Obama a “decent man”. If he hadn’t lead away from the accusations that people where shouting out at his rally it would have been reflected back as a bad thing towards his campaign, so basically it was a purely campaigning strategy. As to Ben and Brad’s comments, I totally agree, I mean just look at the way certain things are interpreted by McCain supporters. Take the issue of pro choice versus pro life, a lot of republicans think that just because a candidate is pro choice doesn’t have to mean that they support abortions; they just believe that it should be a woman’s choice rather than the governments. Mc Cain supporters are taking typical, old, over-debated issues rather than focusing on what is really important, because they know that on issues that are current such as the economy and the wars, he will lose.

  8. I think that a person who discriminates against people of a different sexuality must be extremely ignorant, and unwilling or incapable to look outside of their own little box. Also such an ignorant person should research his facts a little better, since in the younger generation its actually primarily heterosexual 16 to 26 year olds that represent the largest statistical amount of HIV positive people. And how can one continuously refer to the bible in such ignorant ways, when it is the bible that preaches acceptance and love of one’s neighbors. Wasn’t it Jesus who said “those of you who are free of sin shall through the first stone”? A certain person is throwing a lot of rocks against people just because thei are different.

  9. Some people i have talked to recently do actually feel the way that Kamille stated. Many people that i have talked to are so ignorant and one-sided they feel they cannot vote for a man of color. Also with the middle name thing, has become out of hand because in no way should that make you a terrorist.
